About ICB-REV

ICB-REV 2024 becomes one of NBRI’s prestigious annual conference event. This conference is also part of the output for the research project, namely Queen Mary Impact Fund 2023-2024 on Adoption of 2 wheeled electric vehicles in Indonesia. Previously, we have successfully conducted five triumphant international conference: ICB-REV 2021, ICAMT 2021, ICB-REV 2022, ICAMT 2022, and ICB-REV & ICMRT 2023. Following this momentum, the ICB-REV & ICMRT 2023 will be conducted to gather all the experts on battery, renewable energy, and electric vehicles from all over the world to present their recent works and share their knowledge to all participants. This should be accomplished by the presence of invited world-class speakers, industrial expert, association, government, and policy makers that bring the impact of battery technology to the world.

About NBRI

The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) is a platform that brings together scientists, academicians, industry partners, the government, and all stakeholders that focus on battery technology and renewable energy. NBRI was legally established on 07th December 2020 as The Center of Excellence Innovation of Battery and Renewable Energy Foundation, with Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Evvy Kartini and Prof. Dr. Alan J. Drew, became the Founder and Co-founder of NBRI, respectively. Since January 2020, NBRI has performed more than 280 activities national and internationally covering 35 countries. Those activities include Focus Group Discussion, Lectures, Schools, Workshops, Webinars, Training of Trainers, Annual International Conferences, and Summit.

About BTS

The Batavia Transdisciplinary Symposium (BTS) is a prestigious international conference that brings together experts from diverse fields to explore cutting-edge topics through two distinct symposiums. The Transdisciplinary Symposium on Business, Economics, and Communication (TSBEC) focuses on the theme of “Transforming Business Practices, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability in the Energy Transition Era,” addressing crucial topics such as management, business, corporate governance, accounting, small and medium enterprises, and communication & multimedia. Concurrently, the Transdisciplinary Symposium on Engineering and Technology (TSET) centers around “Developing Digital and Green Technology to Achieve Net Zero Emission,” featuring discussions on civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and computer science. Together, these symposiums create a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration, aiming to foster innovation and sustainable development in today’s rapidly evolving global landscape.

About QMUL

Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) is a public research university in London, UK. It is a member institution of the Federal University of London and a member of the prestigious Russell Group.Today, Queen Mary has six campuses across East and Central London, as well as an international presence in China, France, Greece, and Malta. QMUL is organized into three faculties – the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry around 35,000 students are studying at the 21 academic schools and institutes, with more than 40 percent coming from overseas, representing more than 170 different nationalities. There are nine Nobel Laureates among Queen Mary’s alumni, including 3 physicists. The total QMUL research budget is around £300M, accounting for about half of the institutional budget.

About Queen Mary Impact Fund

The Presidential Decree No.55/2019 aims to accelerate the adoption of battery electric vehicles (BEV), which would reduce PM2.5 in cities and potentially reduce CO2 emissions. With 140 million highly polluting mopeds on the road, the 2030 target is that 10% of 2-wheeled (2W) vehicles become electrified, with future electrification of vehicles rolling out at an accelerated pace after that. However, the batteries for 2W EV have various different designs for cells, forms, dimensions, specification, with different charging mechanisms. This is because the regulations for 2W BEV are not yet finalised. There is no standardisation for battery packs in 2W EV in Indonesia. As a result, the infrastructure is poor, with significant variability in charging and battery swapping stations, which limits uptake.

Our project will

Identify the best solution for Indonesia from the myriad of options currently available

Recommend a regulatory framework for battery standardization

Write a short term and long term roadmap for the adoption of 2W BEVs

Our project will be disseminated through Focus Discussion Group (FDG) UK-Indonesia

The United Kingdom and Indonesia Focus Discussion Group (FDG) on 2W-EV Adoption in Indonesia is an event that convenes key stakeholders from both countries to explore and advance the adoption of two-wheeler electric vehicles (2W-EVs) in Indonesia. This discussion disseminates findings from the Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) Impact Fund program for 2023-2024, focusing on market potential, challenges, policy frameworks, technological innovations, and the environmental and economic impacts of 2W-EV adoption. By bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and researchers, the event aims to strengthen UK-Indonesia partnerships and develop actionable strategies to accelerate Indonesia’s transition to electric mobility.
