About QMUL Impact Fund

The Presidential Decree No.55/2019 aims to accelerate the adoption of battery electric vehicles (BEV), which would reduce PM2.5 in cities and potentially reduce CO2 emissions. With 140 million highly polluting mopeds on the road, the 2030 target is that 10% of 2-wheeled (2W) vehicles become electrified, with future electrification of vehicles rolling out at an accelerated pace after that. However, the batteries for 2W EV have various different designs for cells, forms, dimensions, specification, with different charging mechanisms. This is because the regulations for 2W BEV are not yet finalised. There is no standardisation for battery packs in 2W EV in Indonesia. As a result, the infrastructure is poor, with significant variability in charging and battery swapping stations, which limits uptake.

Objectives

Identify The Best Solution for Indonesia From The Myriad of 2W BEV Options Currently Available

Form a Regulatory Framework for Battery Standardisation and 2W BEV Adoption

Write Short Term and Long-term Roadmaps for The Adoption of 2W BEVs in Indonesia
