On May 22, 2025, the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) held a strategic meeting with the Malaysia EV Association to explore potential areas of collaboration in preparation for the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025. The discussion underscored the importance of strengthening cross-border cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia in accelerating the development of a sustainable and integrated electric vehicle (EV) and battery ecosystem across Southeast Asia.
During the meeting, both parties discussed several strategic priorities, including promoting the growth of the regional EV ecosystem, enhancing partnerships in battery technology and charging infrastructure, and reinforcing shared commitments to the clean energy transition and sustainability agenda. The dialogue also highlighted opportunities to encourage greater participation from both public and private sector stakeholders in IBS 2025.
NBRI and the Malaysia EV Association expressed strong alignment in their visions of advancing sustainable mobility and clean energy innovation within the ASEAN region. Both organizations agreed to further explore collaborative initiatives leading up to and during IBS 2025, including knowledge exchange, industry engagement, and strategic networking opportunities.
As part of the Road to IBS 2025 series, this initiative demonstrates NBRI’s commitment to building stronger regional partnerships and positioning the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025 as a premier platform for global dialogue, innovation, and collaboration in battery technology, electric mobility, and energy transition.
