As part of the Road to the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025, Prof. Evvy Kartini, Founder of the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), attended the Jakarta Geopolitical Forum IX/2025 held at Hotel Borobudur, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 24 June 2025. The forum, themed “Geo-economic Fragmentation and Energy Security,” brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and strategic stakeholders to discuss pressing issues surrounding downstream industrialization, resource security, and the global energy transition.
On the sidelines of the forum, Prof. Evvy Kartini met with Mr. Vinicius Mendes Ferreira, Executive Advisor for Nickel Downstreaming at PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, to discuss the upcoming International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025 and the strategic role of Indonesia in the global battery and critical minerals ecosystem.
During the meeting, Mr. Vinicius expressed his strong support for IBS 2025 and officially confirmed his participation as one of the summit’s distinguished speakers. He is scheduled to deliver a presentation on “Mapping Indonesia’s Potential Resources in the Global Battery Supply Chain,” offering valuable insights into Indonesia’s strategic advantages in nickel resources, downstream industrial development, and its growing role in the international battery value chain.
His participation is expected to enrich discussions on how Indonesia can leverage its abundant mineral resources, strengthen sustainable downstreaming initiatives, and enhance its competitiveness as a global hub for battery materials and clean energy industries. The session will also provide perspectives on opportunities for international collaboration, investment, and innovation in developing resilient and sustainable battery supply chains.
As the Road to IBS 2025 continues, the participation of Mr. Vinicius Mendes Ferreira represents another important milestone in bringing together leading industry experts and decision-makers to shape the future of battery technology, critical minerals, and energy transition. IBS 2025 continues to position itself as a premier platform for fostering dialogue, strategic partnerships, and actionable solutions to support a sustainable and globally integrated battery ecosystem.
