BALI, July 10, 2025 – As part of the Road to the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025, the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) participated in the Periklindo EV Conference 2025, reaffirming its commitment to advancing sustainable battery technologies and supporting Indonesia’s clean energy transition.
Representing NBRI, Prof. Evvy Kartini delivered a presentation entitled “Empowering Sustainability: Breakthroughs in EV Battery Recycling and Circular Economy,” highlighting the critical role of battery recycling and circular economy principles in ensuring the long-term sustainability of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem.
During the session, Prof. Evvy presented innovative approaches to managing end-of-life EV batteries, including advancements in battery recycling technologies, resource recovery, and the development of circular value chains that maximize the reuse of critical materials. She emphasized that effective battery recycling strategies are essential to reducing environmental impacts, improving resource efficiency, and strengthening the resilience of the global battery supply chain.
The discussion also underscored the importance of integrating circular economy frameworks into Indonesia’s rapidly growing EV and battery industries. By promoting responsible resource management and sustainable industrial practices, Indonesia has the opportunity to build a more competitive and environmentally responsible battery ecosystem that supports national energy transition objectives and long-term economic growth.
NBRI further emphasized the need for collaboration among government institutions, industry players, research organizations, and international partners to accelerate the adoption of sustainable battery management practices and encourage innovation in recycling technologies. Such cooperation is considered vital to creating an integrated ecosystem that supports both industrial development and environmental sustainability.
As part of the Road to IBS 2025, NBRI’s participation in the Periklindo EV Conference 2025 marks another important milestone in promoting cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable battery solutions. The upcoming International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025 will continue to serve as a global platform for advancing discussions on battery innovation, circular economy strategies, and collaborative solutions to support the future of sustainable mobility and energy transition.
