HONG KONG, July 15–17, 2025 – As part of the Road to the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025, Prof. Evvy Kartini, Founder of the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), delivered a keynote address at The Battery Show Asia 2025 in Hong Kong, one of the region’s premier platforms for battery technology, electric mobility, and energy storage innovation.
In her keynote presentation, Prof. Evvy highlighted Indonesia’s strategic vision for downstreaming its abundant mineral resources to create a strong, integrated, and value-added battery industry. She emphasized the importance of leveraging Indonesia’s critical mineral reserves, particularly nickel and other battery materials, to strengthen domestic manufacturing capabilities, promote industrial competitiveness, and support the country’s transition toward a green and sustainable economy.
Beyond industrial downstreaming, the presentation addressed several critical issues shaping the future of the global battery sector, including battery recycling, standardization, and safety regulations. Prof. Evvy underscored the importance of developing circular economy frameworks and implementing robust safety and quality standards to ensure sustainable and secure battery development. These elements, she noted, are essential for building resilient supply chains, fostering consumer confidence, and accelerating the adoption of clean energy technologies.
The session also highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to promoting innovation, sustainability, and international collaboration in the battery ecosystem. By integrating responsible resource management, advanced recycling technologies, and harmonized standards, Indonesia aims to position itself as a leading hub for battery manufacturing and clean energy development in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
At the conclusion of the session, the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025 was officially introduced as a global platform for dialogue, partnership, and innovation in battery technology and sustainable energy. The summit will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, investors, and international organizations to explore collaborative solutions that support the global energy transition and accelerate the development of a resilient and sustainable battery ecosystem.
As part of the Road to IBS 2025, Prof. Evvy Kartini’s participation at The Battery Show Asia 2025 reinforces Indonesia’s growing role in shaping the future of the global battery industry and demonstrates the country’s commitment to advancing sustainable industrial development through innovation, collaboration, and responsible resource utilization.
