As momentum builds toward the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025, a key coordination meeting was held on June 10, 2025, between the IBS organizing team and the Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Downstreaming Task Force (Satgas Hilirisasi ESDM). The high-level discussion aimed to align Indonesia’s national downstreaming agenda with the strategic objectives of IBS 2025, reinforcing the country’s ambition to become a global leader in battery innovation and sustainable energy development.
The National Battery Research Institute (NBRI), as a principal initiator of IBS 2025, presented the summit’s vision, key focus areas, and its strategic role in positioning Indonesia as a global hub for battery technology, critical minerals, and green industrial transformation. The discussion underscored the importance of inter-agency coordination and policy alignment in strengthening Indonesia’s battery value chain and enhancing the country’s attractiveness for international partnerships and investment.
Several strategic priorities were highlighted during the meeting, including:
- Defining the key themes and priority focus areas of IBS 2025;
- Supporting industrial downstreaming and the development of Indonesia’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem;
- Integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and circular economy frameworks into the battery industry; and
- Exploring collaboration opportunities between ESDM stakeholders, industry players, and global partners.
The meeting also emphasized the critical role of IBS 2025 as a platform for fostering dialogue among policymakers, researchers, industry leaders, and investors to accelerate Indonesia’s energy transition and downstream industrial development.
As part of the Road to IBS 2025, this engagement represents an important milestone in strengthening government and institutional synergy to build a resilient, competitive, and sustainable battery ecosystem. The strong coordination between NBRI and Satgas Hilirisasi ESDM reflects Indonesia’s commitment to leveraging its strategic mineral resources, advancing industrial innovation, and driving the global transition toward clean energy and sustainable development.
