On 17 June 2025, a high-level meeting was held at the Embassy of Myanmar in Jakarta with the Minister of Myanmar, marking an important milestone in strengthening regional cooperation ahead of the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025. The strategic dialogue underscored the growing importance of international partnerships in accelerating Southeast Asia’s transition toward a sustainable and resilient energy future.
The discussion focused on opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy development, with particular emphasis on battery innovation, sustainable energy solutions, and the strategic role of critical minerals in supporting the global clean energy transition. Both parties exchanged perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing the region and highlighted the need for stronger cooperation in building integrated and sustainable battery value chains.
The meeting also explored potential joint initiatives between Indonesia and Myanmar in areas such as critical mineral development, technology exchange, research collaboration, and capacity building. These initiatives are expected to contribute to enhancing regional competitiveness, promoting knowledge sharing, and accelerating the adoption of clean energy technologies across Southeast Asia.
Furthermore, both parties recognized the International Battery Summit (IBS) 2025 as an important platform for fostering dialogue and collaboration among governments, industry leaders, researchers, and investors. The summit is expected to facilitate strategic partnerships and create new opportunities for innovation and investment in battery technology, renewable energy, and sustainable industrial development.
As part of the Road to IBS 2025, this high-level engagement reflects NBRI’s commitment to strengthening regional and international partnerships while positioning Indonesia as a leading convener in discussions on battery innovation, critical minerals, and energy transition. The dialogue with Myanmar further reinforces the importance of collective action and cross-border collaboration in shaping a greener, more sustainable future for Southeast Asia and beyond.
